How do I enable dark mode on WhatsApp?

Published on

In the last two years, the developers of the most popular applications have almost all decided to follow the trend of the dark mode. Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, everyone is doing it, and it’s not insignificant.

Much more than a trend

The dark mode has practical benefits such as saving energy or providing better readability, but that’s not all. In fact, when in dark mode, a display emits less blue light, which has two effects: to provide a better user experience in the dark and not to disturb the user’s sleep.

This trend has indeed become a standard. WhatsApp is one of the latest popular applications to switch to the dark side.

This new theme is already enabled in the WhatsApp beta on Android starting with version 2.20.13 of the application. Here’s how to try it out.

Tutorial to activate WhatsApp dark mode on Android

  • WhatsApp Beta
  • Android 10.0

Before you begin, we recommend that you save your WhatsApp discussions. To do this, go to the application settings in “Discussions > Save discussions”.

Once this backup is complete, download the WhatsApp Beta APK from Logitheque and install the application.

Launch the application and go to its settings. Go to Discussions > Theme, and choose “Dark”.

Dark Mode WhatsApp

WhatsApp is the latest of Facebook’s four social applications to go dark. As a reminder, Facebook also has Instagram and Messenger, two applications that have been on the dark side for months. Based on the pace of feature deployment on these two applications, we can expect the dark mode to arrive in a stable version of WhatsApp within a month on Android and iOS.
