The Redmond firm recently confirmed that the end of the extended support for Microsoft Office 2010 will end on October 13, 2020. The software in the suite will continue to work, but will no longer receive updates from that date.

End of extended support for Office 2010

In its roadmap, Microsoft invites companies to adopt the latest versions of Office. The firm advises organizations to upgrade to Office 365 ProPlus (subscription) or Office 2019 sold under perpetual license (single purchase for a single workstation). Microsoft also reminds users who decide to stay on Office 2010 after that date that they could “expose themselves to serious and potentially dangerous security risks”.

To make it easier to deploy Office 365 ProPlus in large organizations, Microsoft has established a 7-step procedure for administrators. The American giant also provides information on the choice of update channels, their management and deployment.

Administrators can now view the official list of all Microsoft products that will be supported until 2020. They will thus obtain additional information on the life cycle of the Redmond firm’s products.

Individuals are also concerned by this support purpose.

If you have Office 2010, you can still use it. However, like professionals, after October 13, your office suite will no longer be updated even in the event of a serious problem. It is therefore recommended to upgrade Office or purchase its most recent version.
