Sodeasoft GNT Planning offers to forget the era of planning on an Excel sheet thanks to a very visual software as well. Its interface can be reminiscent of Office suite software since it consists of a ribbon and many tabs to go from one tool to another. Gantter highlights its online solution for project management. This service allows you to do everything from a web interface and also stores your work directly online. It allows you to list tasks, assign them a duration and even attach files if necessary. You can store a copy of your project in an online service of your choice and even use the integrated chat to discuss it directly with other project members. In short, Gantter is a free, effective and well thought-out tool.

GanttProject

Unlike Gantter, GanttProject is a software that works without an internet connection. It offers a very minimalist but very functional interface. On the left, you will find the list of tasks and its graphic representation on the right side. Each entry can be detailed and linked to others to form a hierarchy. Data can be exported in several formats, it is even possible to retrieve the graphics as an image. GanttProject is a completely free free software that is updated every year.

Planzone

Planzone is an online service that offers an excellent alternative if you do not want to download dedicated project management software on your computer. The list of tools at your disposal is impressive and the interface allows you to have a global view on the progress of a project and what remains to be done. Planzone offers collaborative messaging, document sharing and integrates very well with third-party services such as Google Drive or Outlook calendars. If you need to manage several projects at the same time, the service will be able to help you with its multi-project view. Planzone can be tested free of charge for 14 days.

Merlin Project

We finish with a software available only on Mac. Merlin Project offers software organized in much the same way as Gantter and GanttProject. A list of tasks is present on the left side and the chronological representation is on the right. The interface has been designed for Apple products and the different menus are well organized and allow you to add links in tasks and launch different actions. Merlin Project also allows you to add budget information and make a very detailed cost estimate. A trial version allows you to test the software’s features for 30 days.
