TikTok opens up to advertisers in France

TikTok, one of the most widely used applications in the world, is finally opening up to advertisers, particularly in France. Brands and companies can now register for the advertising program to distribute branded content on the application.

Your advertising under TikTok

In the test phase since the beginning of 2019, TikTok is gradually expanding its advertising offer across several countries. At present, the application’s advertising campaigns can promote three types of services:

  • Promote your own goods or services.
  • Promote the activities of another group.
  • Promote a personal web page or social network.

TikTok already offered hashtags and trade links.

Unlike many other marketing campaigns, TikTok does not allow you to launch advertising with a simple registration. You will have to fill in your contact details and wait patiently for the application to accept your request. Among the brands already accepted by the application are OPPO, Universal Pictures, Maybelline and Rexona.

Advertisements in several formats

Once your request has been accepted, you have three types of display for your advertising. The first two allow you to add your ad directly to the application in order to redirect the user to a website or even another application.

The third display of advertising takes place when users open TikTok. Your announcement then appears for 3 to 5 seconds on the user’s screen, before the user accesses TikTok.

Concerning the prices, these are done at the CPM, regardless of the format chosen for your advertising. Depending on your country, the display of your ad will cost you between 5 to 8$ USD per 1000 displays.

TikTok: the preferred platform for young people

Born in 2016, TikTok is an application for creating and sharing video content. In the space of two years, it has generated more than 150 million daily users and has quickly become the most downloaded application in several countries. In early 2019, ByteDance, owner of TikTok, announced that the application exceeded one billion downloads on all platforms.

In August 2019, the famous American mass retailer Kroger launched a marketing campaign around the hashtag #TransformUrDorm. The latter encouraged users to make an original video by relaying the hashtag, all heavily supported by platform influencers.

In total, more than 440 million views were generated by the sponsored hashtag. A great visibility campaign for the distribution brand.

With its many teenage users, TikTok may well become, in the long run, a platform of choice for advertisers wishing to reach a young audience.
