Valorant vcruntime140.dll is missing error : Here is the fix

Riot Games recently deployed an update for its online shooting game Valorant. The problem is that after installing this update, many Windows users reported that they could no longer run the game. Indeed, at launch, the error “VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing” is displayed. Riot Games probably forgot to include the .dll file required to run the game.

When starting the game the following error appears on the screen: “The program can’t start because vcruntime140_1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.” In English: “The program can’t start because the file vcruntime140_1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”

A patch has finally been released by Riot Games. It tells users that they need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Runtime to fix the problem. This is a relatively simple operation that takes only a few minutes. Here is the procedure to correct the error and play Valorant again without any problem :

  1. Go to the Microsoft page dedicated to Visual C++.

    Open the above link in a new tab.

  2. Download and install vc_redist

    In the Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 section, download and install vc_redist.x86.exe and vc_redist.x64.exe

  3. Restart the PC

    To validate all the changes, restart your machine. All you have to do is launch Valorant and enjoy your game.
