We have been reminding you regularly for several months: on January 14, 2020, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7. If you still have computers using this operating system, you will soon no longer be able to take advantage of security patches, if you are an individual. For professionals, on the other hand, Microsoft has finally unveiled Extended Security Update.

Windows 7 is extended for professionals

Rather than leaving professionals with an abandoned operating system, the Redmond firm decided to propose an official solution. But there’s no way it’s going to be free: Windows 7 Extended Security Update is a paid support that allows you to benefit from security updates.

Companies can pay $50, $100 or $200 per year per user to keep their computer equipment secure and up to date. The programme was already presented in April for large companies, but SMEs had to wait until today to be able to register and benefit from it.

Windows 7

For the moment, the situation of Windows 7 Ultimate is not clear and it is not known if it can also benefit from Extender Security Update.

If you are interested, all the information can be found on the Microsoft website. Individuals can still try to switch from Windows 7 to Windows 10 as described in this article.
