BackTrack is a Linux distribution. The first 3 versions are based on Slackware, and now on Ubuntu since version 4, providing its users with a set of security testing tools for networks. This will allow you to scan the port but also the password crackers. BackTrack is specially designed and used to perform wireless network audits that support Wi-Fi cards or circuits that support full listening mode such as Atheros. These different tools are placed in 12 categories: Information gathering, Vulnerability estimation, Vulnerability estimation, Fault usage tools, Privilege enhancement, Access maintenance, Reverse engineering, RFID tools, Strength testing, Forum research, Reporting tools, Services and other. It should be noted that BackTrack is available as a live CD and live USB, offering you the possibility to install it on a hard disk or USB key but also to start it directly on a computer without prior installation.
