CloudReady Home Edition
CloudReady offers an alternative version of ChromeOS. This is an installation file to be copied to a USB key (minimum 4 GB) through the ChromeBook recovery utility. Once you have created the installation key, you can use it to test or install ChromiumOS on a machine. You have the possibility to choose between Standalone or dualboot installation. The dualboot will allow you to keep your Windows system and boot your computer on the Microsoft OS or on Chromium. Installing the OS on a Windows machine takes just over 40 minutes (20 for copying to the key + 20 for installation).
CloudReady Home Edition is completely free for personal use and integrates all the features of ChromeOS. It’s a great way to test Google’s operating system without putting your hand to the pocket.
