Backtrack has created Kali, a Linux distribution oriented towards security because it allows multiple tools to test the security of a network and in particular to break through the protections of Wifi. In other words, it is the ideal tool to hack connections and access remote computers without being detected, even if it is not very moral, legal… but we are sure that no one here will use Kali for dishonest purposes…
How to use Kali?
Kali is presented as a disc image in.iso format, which will have to be burned on DVD or USB stick. Once launched, the OS takes precedence over the one installed on the computer and will already be configured to perform its first network vulnerability tests. It is recommended to use the “Live” version without installing the OS, but you can also install it.
If you want to use the software as an “investigator”, choose the “Forensic Mode”, i.e. the option inherited from BackTrack: This will allow you to analyze the surrounding networks and launch an “attempt” to connect. Obviously this is not the only feature of the OS, which is intended for expert users and who are not afraid to face a rich and extensive documentation. Since version 2019.1, Metasploit has been upgraded to version 5.0, its first update in 8 years!
A professional tool above all
Kali is first and foremost a professional OS for cybersecurity experts. Any other use is prohibited and not recommended. However, this should warn you about the dangers surrounding insecure connections and Man in the Middle attacks.
