MacFamilyTree was specifically designed for Mac OS X and is based on a wide range of Apple’s proprietary technologies. Most of its elements are based on Apple’s Core Animation. It has a personal database, the Core Data, which makes it easy to design the family tree of a family of a thousand members. Combined with a 64-bit Mac OS X X, all the Mac’s computing power will be exploited.
In the new version of MacFamilyTree 7, adding information about a family member is made easier by a completely redesigned interface. It is possible to associate important people with family members and it is easy to switch from one information to another. The Research module has access to a large genealogical database, FamilySearch. The latter has a wealth of geographical and historical data, and can be shared with other users.
MacFamilyTree has several visualization options. The three-dimensional virtual tree allows you to know the size of each branch of the family with personal information such as date of birth or names. The Virtual Globe element shows all the places inhabited by the family over time. Other display options such as statistical maps, schematics or graphs can also be listed. The reports, which can be fully customized, can be exported in several formats.
