RescueTime is part of the very closed family of anti-procrastination software. Unlike some programs that block desktop applications and windows, in order to eliminate distractions from users’ eyes, the desktop records your activities, and helps you achieve your goals by alerting you when you exceed the preset break or leisure time. Thanks to him you will finally be able to know if you are a serious worker, or a real slacker.
RescueTime is used as follows. First, the software records your activities to help you make an initial assessment of your work habits. Then, it gives you the opportunity to define your objectives according to the assessment in question.
For example, you can limit your non-productive activities to 30 minutes a day. As the day progresses, RescueTime will alert you when you are about to cross the red line.
Finally, at the end of the day you will be able to consult the verdict, with a score that will be given to you by the program according to your behaviour (score ranging from -2 to +2). A productivity curve is also available.
