Microsoft Teams

  • Updated on 07/04/20

Teams is a collaboration solution developed by Microsoft. In its free version, the software that replaces Skype Business is limited to 300 users, but beyond this restriction, Microsoft Teams is versatile.

What are the features of Microsoft Teams?

The software allows you to communicate with your team through group or individual video calls and of course its instant messaging service. Moreover, during video calls, it is possible to blur the background with one click to avoid any distraction or to preserve a minimum of confidentiality. Teams integrates no less than 250 applications and services for optimal collaboration. Thus, users can work online on common projects without losing productivity thanks to the co-editing mode on Word, PowerPoint, OneNote or Excel without leaving the Team interface.

Note that the software allows an unlimited number of discussions and provides by default 10 team file storage and 2 GB additional storage for each member.

Microsoft Teams and information security

As far as security is concerned, Teams uses in its free version an encryption of data “at rest” and “in transit”. You will need to switch to the paid versions to activate other security features such as multi-factor authentication or advanced reporting.
