The GXL modules are standard or customized management applications, developed in Excel and VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and presented as a user-friendly, alternative and free solution for all small independent organizations and professionals: associations, small businesses, merchants, craftsmen, liberal professions, micro-entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs…
The creation and opportunity of GXL modules are the result of several observations:
- The many management software products on the market today often offer a global management solution, requiring prior configuration to be adapted to the specific needs of the user. Depending on the evolution and changing needs of the user, these software, through regular modifications and re-parameterings (never free) can very quickly become “gas plants” reducing the efficiency sought in the original solution.
- When the only person who knows how to use the management software leaves his company without having passed on his know-how to another employee, the whole organization breaks down with, to get out of the impasse, various solutions such as: – recruiting a competent person who can prove to be a rare gem if the software in question is complex, non-standard or too old.- mobilize and train another employee in the mastery of this software, resulting in a reorganization of tasks and skills internally; – change its management system with time and resources devoted to its implementation and may not be able to recover the old data. While it is true that large companies are able to anticipate and manage these different scenarios without damage, they become real problems for small organizations, which do not have the human and financial resources to deal with them, which can have serious consequences for their development.
- If the Excel spreadsheet is, with Word, the most well known and used software in the world by professionals and individuals alike, it is often under-exploited! Indeed, by using all its functions, Excel becomes a very powerful tool for data processing and management… and not only digital. With VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), it is possible to program commands and dialog boxes that allow anyone, even those who are not familiar with Excel, to consult and enter data without altering the program. Finally, the Excel file format is a standard recognized by all other software, making it easier to import or export data.
